چکیده
Acute retinal pigment epithelitis (ARPE), also known as Krill's disease, was first described by Krill and Deutman in 1972 as a bilateral, benign, self limited disease [1]. There are many recent reports [2-5]. That describes the Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) findings in ARPE. Lesions of the RPE, inner and outer segments of photoreceptors and external limiting membrane and sub-retinal deposits have all been implicated in the pathology of ARPE. Poor visual acuity at baseline and involvement of the ELM or ONL on SD-OCT at baseline were associated with the incomplete recovery of visual acuity [2]. In a report of 3 cases, in the acute stage, SD-OCT demonstrated abnormal hyper reflectivity involving the photoreceptor outer segment layer and hypo reflectivity involving the associated RPE layer in all cases. In the chronic stage, SD-OCT showed decreased abnormal reflectivity. Resolution of hyper-reflective and disrupted

A case of acute retinal pigment epithelitis: spectral domain optical coherence tomography time course and physiopathologic hypothesis
PURPOSE To report the time course of retinal morphologic changes in a patient with acute retinal pigment epithelitis (ARPE) using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). METHODS A 30-year old man was referred for blurred vision of his right eye after five days that appeared suddenly 15 days after recovery from a flu-like syndrome. SD-OCT was performed immediately, followed by f...
متن کاملEpiretinal membrane surgery for combined hamartoma of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium: role of multimodal analysis
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), MP-1 microperimetry, and fundus autofluorescence imaging for planning surgical procedures in combined hamartomas of the retina and retinal pigment epithelium (CHR-RPE) and following epiretinal membrane removal. METHODS In an interventional retrospective case series, six cons...
متن کاملAutologous translocation of choroid and retinal pigment epithelium in geographic atrophy: long-term functional and anatomical outcome
PURPOSE To evaluate the long-term outcome of autologous graft of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) in patients with geographic atrophy. METHODS Ten patients with progressive geographic atrophy underwent translocation of an autologous graft of RPE, Bruch membrane and choroid. The visual acuity (VA), reading performance, microperimetry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus autofluorescence...
متن کاملOptical coherence tomography findings of quinine poisoning
PURPOSE To report a case of acute quinine poisoning, document acute and chronic macular changes with optical coherence tomography imaging and fluorescein angiography (FA), and to review the literature on ocular toxicity of quinine. METHODS A 32-year-old white female presented to our Emergency Department after ingesting over 7.5 g of quinine. She underwent a complete ophthalmologic examination...
متن کاملB-Scan and “En-Face” Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging for the Diagnosis and Followup of Acute Retinal Pigment Epitheliitis
Purpose. To report B-scan and "En-face" spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) findings in acute retinal pigment epitheliitis (ARPE). Methods. Two patients (3 eyes) with ARPE were examined. Fluorescein and indocyanine green (ICGA) angiography, B-scan, and "En-face" SD-OCT were performed in each patient at initial and follow-up visits. Results. Both patients presented with acute o...
